I have to confess something. I am not terribly techy. Actually, I can hold my own on somethings, but often, I have to turn to the experts for some help.
So, I decided to make the plunge into social networks. There seem to be several out there.
I had signed up with xfire and I love it. And it's been a great way to keep up with my gamer friends. I have several friends who play different games. Some of them I am interested in playing myself. Because they are signed up with xfire I can see the games they are playing and talk to them while they are in the new game. It's a really awesome thing.
I finally made a myspace. Ok, so I am about 5 years behind the curve here. This is where things go a little funky. I had to bribe my hubby to get him to help me build what is in essence a very very simply page. I want to add some photos and screenshots to the page but right now I can't figure out how. Sigh. It makes my brain hurt.
I have been trying to sign up with facebook. It's a lot simpler to play with. It uses java which is good, but someone I got my account disabled by an administrator when I asked them for help with the tech side of things... LOL! So for now, I am going to have to say no to facebook I think. I know it is supposed to be the "new and improved" social networking site, but they have some funky privacy tools. Plus, in order for anyone to see the page, they have to sign up with facebook as well. I am not sure I want to have to solicit people to join in order for them to see my site.
So I am sticking my toe in the water. I have enjoyed xfire and am curious to see how this experiment will go.
I don't really have the time to mess around with multiple games, but I will admit every once in a while it is fun to have something else to do. There aren't any MMO's coming down the pike that have totally grabbed my interest or that have me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting with bated breath for them to launch.
I have some friends who want to try out Age of Conan. I haven't been hearing good things about it though since they pushed back the launch to March of 2008.
Ok, I lied. The game I really am waiting for is Star Trek online. It's being made by perpetual who were making the Gods and heroes game. They recently announced they were putting Gods and heroes on the back burner. I am hoping that means they are going to be putting STO on the front burner and banging that thing out. I want a beta. I want IN the Beta. I want this game BBBAAADDDDDD!!!! I just have to stop thinking about how much I want it. LOL
Bah, we'll just have to see what happens I guess.
